South Jersey seems to have been given a “make up call” from Mother Nature this year. We have been spared the wicked winters and snow of the last two years. Temperatures have been mild giving us a taste of what we long for in Ocean City, the warmth of a summer’s day and the cool breeze of a summer’s eve. We hope that you’re thinking of your well deserved vacation in America’s Greatest Family Resort and also at the Forum, where we are excited to welcome your return.
The first thing that you will notice is the lack of cranes on the bay, not the birds, the construction equipment. The long awaited date for completion of the causeway bridge will take place this coming May 2012. The finishing touches are being made and all four lanes will be available for travel and guess what, no bridge openings! It was sad watching the picturesque old span being removed but that nostalgia is quickly replaced by the magnificent views of the bay and especially the entry to the city. The fishing piers and the nature boardwalk over the marshes might take a little longer to complete but the driving is clear sailing. The extra added treat is the new walkway and bicycle lane on the south side of the span. The easy entry to Ocean City was well worth the six year wait.
It has been a busy winter in town. Plans are made for the replacement of the boardwalk and understructure from Twelfth Street to Sixth Street. This will be a winter project over several years and will not effect your enjoyment of a stroll on our Boardwalk rated as one of the “Top Ten” in the world by the Travel Channel. We are the only New Jersey “walk” so honored, because of the “wholesome family atmosphere” and the events, the art shows, parades, fireworks, and the always entertaining Thursday Family Days on the Avenue and Nights on the Boards.
We are also very busy at the Forum. This year new flat screen televisions will be installed in the remainder of the motel. There is new carpeting to be installed in sections and, of course, the usual painting and cleaning. We take great pride in providing you with the amenities that contribute to your comfort and enjoyment. We also have free WiFi so that you can remain connected with work and the world, however, you’re here to have fun and relax and we’re here to make that possible.
